# Transparent

The Transparent Mode enables direct transmission of serial data over TCP/IP networks.

**Configuration:**

* Each serial port is assigned a unique TCP port
* Example: Serial Port 1 → TCP 7001, Serial Port 4 → TCP 7004

**Advantages:**

* No special protocol conversion required
* Direct integration into existing systems
* Suitable for legacy devices with a serial interface
* Enables remote access over the network

## Selection for Serial Transparent Mode

* The mode can be selected for each individual Serial Port. The selection is made under "Serial Settings" via the "Fieldbus" drop-down menu.

{% hint style="info" %}
The H1.M300 has no expansion slot. The four onboard ports (Serial Port 1 to 4, TCP 7001 to 7004) are available.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://support.powerio.com/hub/powerio-r-system/en/h1.m300/feldbus-protokolle/transparent.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
