# Using CODESYS Edge Gateway

To couple the CODESYS Edge Gateway with the powerIO systems and the CODESYS Automation Server, it is necessary to first put the gateway into maintenance mode. The article then explains which steps are required for this.

## Activate/deactivate Edge Gateway Maintenance Mode

1. Navigate to the IP address of your powerIO device: `http://<IP>:8080`
2. Click in the "Password" field and log in with Enter or click "LOGIN".

3\. Navigate to "Applications"

4\. The gear icon next to the application must be clicked.

**5. Select the "Gateway" configuration**

6\. Now adjust the settings in the "Gateway" configuration file.

Deactivate:

* To deactivate Maintenance Mode, set the value to 0

7\. Apply the setting by clicking "SAVE"

8\. Restart the application so that the configuration is applied.

Please note that this also restarts the CODESYS Runtime. Without a restart, the setting will not be applied.

## Connect Edge Gateway

1\. Navigate to "Tools"

2\. Select "Edge Gateway" and then "Connect Edge Gateway"

3. Connect to the device

4\. Check the status of the Edge Gateway

In "configuration mode" it is shown whether maintenance mode is active. If it is inactive, activate it as described above. Otherwise, no configurations are possible.\

5\. Enter the server URL and click "Check /Refresh"

6\. Another window opens. Here, the login details must be entered.&#x20;

7\. Now a name can be assigned for the Edge Gateway. By clicking "Connect to Server", the connection to the Automation Server is established.
